Facebook shows unrelated image from sidebar for post thumbnail

  • Hi there,

I’m using Facebook plugin 1.1.11, and I’ve noticed that when my posts have no images in them, Facebook shows an unrelated image/icon from the blog’s sidebar as the thumbnail for the post.

Here’s an example from my blog which was shared on my Facebook fan page here. In this case, instead of using the thumbnail from the embedded YouTube video, Facebook used an icon from the sidebar.

I’d prefer there to be no thumbnail than an incorrect thumbnail; this option is available when sharing a post manually, but not when using the social publishing function of this plugin. If that’s not possible, in leiu of omitting the incorrect thumbnail, I’d like to be able to specify a default image. There is a posting here which I think describes how to do this, but I’m not that keen on diving in to fix something that really ought to be built into the plugin.

    Cheers,
    Graham
