[resolved] Facebook sharing responds differently on home page than other pages (4 posts)

Hi have the Jetpack sharing buttons on 3 websites that are not primarily blogging sites.

On the buttons that appear on the home page, the share button shares the latest blog entry (BAD). On the buttons that appear on all other pages, it shares that current page (GOOD). It also doesn't share the right logos for the shared articles.

I want the button to share the information that is on the page where the button resides which is how it works for all the pages but the home page. It should also be sharing our logo, not the image that was in the last blog post.

Could you post your site URL here, so I can have a look?

    Hi Jeremy,

The sites are: poweringimagination.com and thetrawlerstore.com. If you click on the facebook share button on the home page, it takes you to the latest blog post. Clicking on the share button on any other page shares that page which is the way it should work for all pages.

    Thanks.

    Thanks for the extra details.

I tried using the sharing buttons on both of your home pages, and they seem to be working properly.

Both of your sites are set to display your most recent blog post; you've added the sharing buttons to that blog post. As a result, when clicking on the sharing button, you'll be sharing the blog post where you've added the buttons.

If you'd rather have the sharing buttons displaying specific text from your home page, I would suggest that you set up a static front page for your site, as explained here:
    http://codex.wordpress.org/Creating_a_Static_Front_Page

You can then add the sharing buttons to that static front page.

If you'd like this static front page to also display one of your blog posts, you can create a custom front-page.php file in your theme, and call one post in that template. Your static front page will then use that template and display your post.

    I hope this helps.
