Facebook Shared Link does not open in FB iOS App

    Facebook sharing window is visible & clickable at time line, with a suitable image from the page. However, the link doesn’t work when clicked within Facebook/Messenger iOS apps. When copied & pasted into Safari on iOS, it works.

    Hi there,

    Sharing is supposed to work on all mobile devices. Did you try other sharing plugins to check if you are facing the same issue with them too? Let us know.

    Hi,

    I don’t use this plugin but I did get the exact same message today. No idea where it is coming from.
    We;ve tried this link: http://olijf.nu/maatje-36-cupje-b/
    With or without SSL. Both not working. All plugins are disabled.

    I’ve been developing WP-sites for over 4 years but this error has got me for now.

    Hope someone has tips.

    I added these lines to my .htaccess

    <FilesMatch "\.(htm|html|css|js|php)$">
Satisfy Any
</FilesMatch>

Options +Indexes

    I don’t know if this makes it less secure. But it works for FB iOS app. Not for FB Messenger iOS app, though (no idea why).

    I believe it is related to additional WordPress security (WordPress attack protection CAPTCHA) imposed by the hosting provider. On desktops, it pops a login window like this one.

    .htaccess modification above disables this.
