Facebook share counter

I write a blog that’s administrated by a major newspaper. Recently, they (or maybe WordPress. I don’t know which) changed the page format and removed the old Facebook share counter, which was VERY valuable to my tracking the page’s activity. I would like to find out if anybody knows of a widget that I can embed that will allow me to get this – and maybe the same for Twitter – information, either publicly displayed on the page or available by an off-site link.
