    To be honest, these issues are usually caused by a Plugin conflict.

    In my case it was the Related Post Slider plugin that was the culprit.

    Once I uninstalled that, Facebkk and G+ pull the correct image.

    Hope this helps someone.

    I have found the following related to this issue:

    Suppose I create a link in G+ or FB. When I do so there is a set of forward and backward arrows on the top right of the image. If I click this and manually chose which image I want, the correct image is shown and seems to stay.

    Can Jetpack not use the same logic? We chose the image we want and it sends the post to FB and G+ with this chosen image?

    You can do so, by defining a Featured Image in your post.

    As per my post here, despite setting a featured image, I still get the same or similar issue.
