Support » Plugin: Yoast SEO » Facebook OpenGraph og:title not working on custom post type

  • WordPress version: 3.5.1
WordPress SEO version: dev Version 1.4.7

Live Example of the problem I am having:

    I did this:
Created a custom post type and added this as the meta tag title template:
LIKE To Vote For %%title%% as Hair of the Week!

I clicked the checkbox under social to add facebook open graph meta tags to every page.

I expected the plugin to do this:
Change the title of the page to the template I created (which it did perfectly), and also change the og:title meta tag to the same exact string as the title of the page (which it failed to do)

    Instead it did this:
The og:title meta tag reads this:
    <meta property=”og:title” content=”Katya – David Groshen” />

Where “Katya” is the name of the post, and “David Groshen” is the name of the site.

    Please help thank you!

  • I can confirm that this is a conflict with WordPress SEO Version 1.4.7

Migrating back to WordPress SEO Version fixes this issue.

I also tested this and experienced the same conflict on a different website in a different environment.

    Using WordPress SEO Version 1.4.7

    WordPress SEO Version

To reiterate, the problem I experienced with Version 1.4.7 is:
For custom post types the facebook OpenGraph og:title meta tag is not replaced with the title template for the post, but instead is replaced by the template “%%title%% – %%sitename%%”

With v1.4.7 I was having meta description problems with %%title%% pulling the wrong title as well. Currently using which fixed the meta description problem, but now Video SEO for WordPress SEO by Yoast no longer works.
