Support » Fixing WordPress » Facebook links don't pick up photos

  • When I post a link of an individual blog post to Facebook, it should grab a photo (or choice of photos) from the post to display next to the text it pulls from the page. It doesn’t do that – instead, it shows a strange upside down “G” graphic that I’ve never seen before.

Any ideas on what is causing this and what to do about it?

  • Did you find a solution? I am new but I think it is because there isn’t anything in the source code that tells Facebook there is an image to select. I fixed this on one page of my site by adding a custom field with <link rel=”image_src” href=”” />
but this didn’t work on other pages (different images/links)

Can anyone tell me if I could do something similar in the header.php? I.e. My theme gives me the option to add music- I will never have that. Can I take out the code for music and replace it with something to identify an image that isn’t visible on the page but has been uploaded to my site?

The tech support from my theme is not helpful at all. I’d really appreciate any suggestions! Thanks!

Where did you put in the custom field?

I uploaded a photo and used the link in the code I wrote, here it is exactly: <link rel=”image_src” href=”” />
and then on my site:, look at the source code and the link is after </style>

If I post this page on my Facebook page, it gives me that photo. This is perfect for me also because that photo doesn’t show up on my page- this is what I want.

But this same procedure didn’t work on other pages.

    Thanks – I’ll try it!

Let me know if it works, ok?! I hope to hear from others too…
