Facebook like generate post from url

    I’m trying to find a plugin that will automatically generate the post title, excerpt, and image from a url the same way facebook does when you paste a url in to the post field. Any suggestions would be helpful.

    I think what you are looking for is built into wordpress by default using embeds. However, it only works for some sites. You can see more about the sites that are supported here: https://wordpress.org/support/article/embeds/

    Thanks but not quite what I’m looking for.

    1. We have an older installation because of a bunch of custom code so we don’t have the gutenberg.
    2. But….I ALWAYS “remove” the gutenberg anyway because its not easy for users to use.
    3. This site allows the public to post like on facebook and even if I can get the site owners to understand how this would work the average user would never be able to figure it out.

    We need something that would add an extra field for url that would then grab the content to generate the preview just like facebook does.
