So… this happened with USPS Shipping – it was a free plugin for a long time then bam, all of a sudden no automatic update – and come to find out, it’s because they (quietly, as I could find NO documentation, tech support did not admit this, and I had to figure it out myself) decided to make it a paid plugin.

A similar scenario is now happening – WordPress tells me I have an update for the Facebook for WooCommerce plugin, but auto-update is not available, and neither is an update package.

I checked Woocommerce.com – the Facebook plugin is still free, unlike USPS Shipping, so what in the world is going on? I hope they’re not planning to (quietly) start charging for this without announcement – if so, it’s a business model I’m not too thrilled with.

Hi there! The Facebook plugin had a bit of an issue with version numbers in the past week, which is being addressed by the Facebook team currently. Nothing is up with your installation and the plugin is not going premium, I recommend waiting a few days until the problem has resolved itself.

    Hope that helps!

What’s the deal with this plugin?

Version numbers, gobblety gook text in the plugin description, zero support from Facebook, confusion about if the plugin is still supported, and more.

For a company the size of Facebook, I can’t believe they can’t maintain a wordpress plugin properly.

We are having the same issue with v1.9.5 which has a security vulnerability (https://wpvulndb.com/vulnerabilities/9356). I need to update to v1.9.15 to address it, but cannot cause of this error. I don’t know why this issue was marked as Resolved when there was no followup and the issue is still happening with later versions.
