    Hello,

I am experiencing an issue with Facebook link previews for articles published on my WordPress news website:

    https://www.telebari.it/

I am using Yoast SEO to generate the Open Graph metadata.

For example, this article does not show the expected image preview when I share or schedule it on Facebook:

    https://www.telebari.it/cronaca/259909-caporalato-e-omicidio-due-arresti-per-la-morte-di-un-lavoratore-indiano-in-unazienda-agricola.html

When I test the URL with the Facebook Sharing Debugger, Facebook correctly retrieves the page with an HTTP 200 response and detects the following Open Graph data:

    • og
    • og:type: article
    • og
    • og
    • Twitter Card metadata

However, Facebook does not process or display the og.

The Sharing Debugger shows this warning:

“Restricted news domain. The provided og URL could not be processed due to European news domain licensing restrictions.”

    The og URL is:

    https://it1objrp01.vhostingcloud.com/telebari/2026/07/carabinieri-taranto.webp

The image is publicly accessible and loads correctly in a browser. The problem also occurs after clicking “Scrape Again” several times.

    My questions are:

    1. Is this issue related in any way to the Open Graph metadata generated by Yoast SEO?
    2. Could the use of an external image domain, different from telebari.it, cause or worsen this restriction?
    3. Would it be better to serve the og from the same domain, for example from http://www.telebari.it or a subdomain such as cdn.telebari.it?
    4. Is the WebP format fully recommended for Facebook Open Graph images, or should I use a dedicated JPG image with dimensions of 1200 x 630 pixels?
    5. Are there any Yoast settings or filters that can help Facebook correctly identify and process the article image?
    6. Has anyone experienced the same “European news domain licensing restrictions” warning with a news website?

The Facebook debugger appears to read the Open Graph tags correctly, so I suspect that this may be a Facebook licensing restriction rather than a Yoast problem. However, I would like to confirm that the Yoast configuration and generated metadata are correct.

    Thank you for your help.

    Hello @antonios31,

Thanks for using Yoast SEO. I tested the URL you shared in the Facebook sharing debugger but didn’t get the error you mentioned. See screenshot.

If the licensing restriction error persist, this is unconnected to Yoast SEO or your images. It falls under Meta’s restrictions for certain European news publishers. This is related to news licensing and copyright regulations in Europe, not an issue with your Open Graph tags.

Venho tendo problemas há uma semana. Já testei outros programas de SEO, mas não tive sucesso.

Cada hora o Facebook aponta um erro para carregamento de imagens.

Não sei mais o que fazer.
