Facebook Comments

  • How can I display recent facebook comments, I have three tabs on my website: http://www.worldinsport.com

    Tabs are Headline – Popular – Comments

    First two works fine, but comments doesn’t as its setup to use default comments system rather than the facebook comments that I use.

    Here is the code that would need replacing:

    <p> <label for="<?php echo $this->get_field_id( 'com_num' ); ?>">Number of recent comments:</label>
        <input id="<?php echo $this->get_field_id( 'com_num' ); ?>" name="<?php echo $this->get_field_name( 'com_num' ); ?>" value="<?php echo $instance['com_num']; ?>" style="width:20%;" /></p>

    How can I change this code to display recent facebook comments?

    Many thanks

  • Maybe this:
    http://wordpress.org/plugins/fb-comments-importer/
    Since it merges fb comments with site comments, you can leave code as is.

    I don’t need comments imported, just need to replace that code to show facebook comments in a widget along with the other tabs I mentioned.

    Thanks

    You didn’t say how you are getting the fb comments into WP so there’s really no way to tell you how to change that code. If you use the plug in mentioned, you don’t need to change anything.

    I am using Facebook’s plugin and have their comments system active.

    You can see the example of the comments here: worldinsport.com/mcgeady-debut-distin-return-a-win-win-for-toffees/

    Would like them comments to be able to fit into the side widget called comments?

    Regards

    Ok, you’re iframing that fb widget on a page. What I’m saying is you need a way to pull the comments into WP before WP can do anything with them. Right now they only live on fb and are embedded from there into your page. That’s normally done with an api that can access your fb account and read data there. I’m guessing that’s what the plug in does. And by importing the fb comments into your WP comments, you can then use them in the sidebar. As it is now, you won’t be able to.

    Any solutions how to achieve this?
