Paid Memberships Pro runs extremely slow when interacting with the database. When a user registers or has their profile updated it takes over 200 seconds! This should be under 10 seconds. Preferably under 5.

I’m sorry if this has already been answered but I’ve looked, only finding posts with no real answers.

    Details:

    • This is a development site with only 5 members and 3 membership levels.
    • It has been doing this since installation.
    • The server is a top-tier VPS from GoDaddy, without any other sites aside from another development site with no traffic.
    • Changing servers is out of the question and should be unnecessary considering this is more than enough.

One more thing. It’s been doing this before I added any other plugins or extensions, aside from Akismet.

Also worth noting, I had initially begun the development on a top-tier Bluehost VPS we own. It was just as slow there too.

The theme we’ve been testing with is 2014.

Any help would be great, I’d hate to have to start over with another solution, and I can’t justify paying for support for a product that may not even function properly. :/

    Ok,

    So…here’s what I’ve discovered.

Using slow_query_log in my.cnf I was not able to identify any slow queries. Paid Memberships Pro appears well written, and functions as fast as can be expected.

The problem had to do with a Paid Memberships Pro Add On, the PMPro Constant Contact Integration. By disabling this add on I was able to get the speed up to under 5 seconds per update/registration.

Note* I used P3 (Plugin Performance Profiler) from GoDaddy to identify this. Easy stuff.

Now…I just need to figure out why the Constant Contact Add On was slowing things down so much. I’d still like to use it, so I’ll look into it and post back if I have a solution.
