I'm a reporter for a wire service in Chicago and got sick of searching the internet to see which of my stories have been published.

So I set up a wordpress blog with FeedWordpress and about 60 feeds, all channeled into 60 categories or soooo...

    I'm running 25 plugins:

    • Cat Count
    • CG-InBetween
    • Exec-PHP
    • Geo
    • Google SiteMaps w/ Ultimate Tag Warrior Add-On
    • Hello Dolly!
    • Live
    • Next to last
    • Our Todo list
    • Peter's Custom Anti-Spam
    • Plug'n'Play Google Map
    • Post Count
    • Reader's Post
    • Search Phrases
    • Ultimate Tag Warrior
    • WEighted Words
    • WP-Contact Form
    • WP-Email
    • WP-MonsterID

The site has a google map of chicago to show where clips have happened, a section full of journalism job links and makes great use of the weighted words plugin to see what people are spending the most time writing about.

    Comments? Thoughts?

the design is pretty messy, information doesn't display properly that way. there seems to be a lack of hierarchy.

Could you be more specific? What 1 or two things would you change?

    Anyone else?

    Not bad!
Maybe more icons instead of repeating headers and such would increase legibility. A tighter...err, narrower, main column would be easier for the eyes to follow. That's 2 things ;)

This is a site I would like to come back to and hopefully many with me, hence the thoughts about icons.

    icons eh?

I've redesigned the site to be a little more visually dynamic. Depending on the category of the post, the post snippets get different background that incorporate icons into them. I think it mixes up the front page a little more.
