I am playing with full site editing in my local environment using the “TT1 Blocks” theme. I need conditionally-displayed menu items, so I installed Max Mega Menu and displayed my navigation menu in the header using a shortcode. It LOOKED great, and I was able to hide “Sign In”, for example, from users already logged in.

However, in testing it for keyboard-only users, the plugin added four invisible – but tab-able – items between my site title and my first menu item. I can’t see them, but I am tabbing to SOMETHING, so I pressed the Enter key on each of them to see where I would go. They all go to: about:blank#blocked

What I see at that destination when I am in either Chrome or Opera is a completely white screen with no text. Firefox also has the useless links but does not try to follow them when I press Enter.

Having four tab-able links that go nowhere is not good for usability (even if they give some indication that they will go nowhere). When I deactivate the plugin, these links disappear completely.

I don’t have this version of my site online yet, but if you cannot reproduce the problem, I will upload it.

I solved it. Don’t try to put a shortcode inside a Navigation block. It worked fine inside a group (which was inside a column).
