Support » Plugins » Externally Hosted Videos on WordPress – Best Solution

  • Hi,

I am new to wordpress and building a site that will include up to 20 links to utube videos. In order to avoid playback performance issues for end users, what wordpress plugins are required? Also, is there a good affordable hosting solution that you recommend that handles video streaming well? Thanks much in advance.

  • If you’re using YouTube videos, you have all the hosting and video streaming covered – that’s what YouTube does for you. You just need to put the links to the YouTube videos into the post to embed them. No plugins required.

i have a theme that display posts with thumbnails
however the thumnails are manually uploaded using the “featured image” in the edit post page.

when i get the videos using the “external videos” plugin i can see that it gets the thumbnails from youtube but it does not show on the theme.

i think this is because it is not set as featured image – because when i do manually add an image as a featured image it does come up as a thumbnail.

please can you help me – what i want is for the thubnails that external video plugin gets from youtube to actually show on the theme.

note: i do not want to use the shortcodde for the gallery and the page in question is the page that holds all the posts and not the individual post pages.

    any help will be appreciated

I don’t know a work-around for creating thumbnails for posts.
