# External Widget

 * Hi, I’m looking for a way to generate a widget for an external website that would
   display my choice of recent posts from my blog. Something like [http://www.widgetbox.com](http://www.widgetbox.com)
   but with more freedom to customise it. Not just that I could change the appearance,
   but also so that I could specify whether it showed latest posts or posts from
   a specific blog category.
 * The website is [http://www.acara.ie](http://www.acara.ie) and the blog is [http://www.acara.ie/blog](http://www.acara.ie/blog)
 * Is there a plug-in/widget that exists that would do this for me?

 * You don’t need a plugin do this. Use WordPress’s [feeds](http://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Feeds).
   That’s how you get the content out of your site.
 * Getting the content into the external site is a different matter. WP plugins/
   widgets only work inside of WP, not outside it.
 * If you’re handy with PHP, google “magpie rss” and use that to customize how the
   feed displays on your external site. If you’re not, check out feedburner’s “feed
   flare” service.
