    External links (the ones that WP includes, such as the link to the support forums, etc. I am not talking about the links set by the admin) need to be opened in a new window or tab rather than taking the user away from the website. This should have been included right from the start IMO.

    Just to provide counterpoint:

    I disagree. In my world, the only one opening links in a new tab or window better be me, not some website’s designer.

    I disagree as well. Websites should not be capable of specifying where pages open, which is why such functionality (target) is not in the XHTML specifications.
