# External link changes to https

 * My WP site is set to use https, but now a link to external site (http) gets reset
   to https. My web host SiteGround has (1) searched the database and finds no entries
   for that URL using https and (2) checked the .htaccess file and it’s nor rewriting
   or redirecting.
 * The page is [http://ca-bankruptcylaw.com/about](http://ca-bankruptcylaw.com/about)
   and the external link is “ex-ski bum” toward the bottom of the page. The code
   for that link specifies http, but the link itself shows https.
 * Any ideas?

 * How did you change your site from http to https? Did you use a plugin? Some sort
   of search/replace?

 * First I used SiteGround’s plugin SG Optimizer with, Force HTTPS = On. That worked
   but I didn’t notice the “bad’ external link until recently. After contacting 
   SiteGround support, they changed the site to https another way and set Force 
   HTTPS = Off in SG Optimizer. But the bad external link remained. They’ve run 
   out of ideas after checking what I said in my first post above.

 * It may be that the https link exists only in cache. Have you tried clearing the
   site’s cache? Both through any plugins you might have installed and through any
   server-level caching siteground might have.

 * I cleared the cache from WP Rocket, the caching plugin I use.

 * disable the siteground cache and disable wprocket until this is resolved

 * Thanks. I disabled SG Optimizer and that fixed the problem, even though it was
   set at Force HTTPS = Off. So it seems that something is wrong with that plugin.
   I’ll tell SiteGround about it.
