external jquery gallery in sidebar

Hi is it possible to load a jquery slideshow gallery into a sidebar with a a content box that references an external html file that contains the html and javascript for the gallery?

I am trying it but haven’t seen any results. Not sure if there are limitations with Wp when referencing external javascript.
