Extension to allow simple post creation images/links (like facebook posts)

    Hi all,

    I’d like to setup a WordPress site for a friend, but he has Zero HTML experience and so I’d like to keep it as simple as possible for him.

    Currently, the “Insert Post” screen of WordPress is pretty simple, but when it comes to adding images, there’s the issue of uploading images, inserting into posts, choosing sizes, alignment, etc.. All of which make sense from a HTML/Content POV, but could be confusing to beginners.

    He is currently using a Page in facebook to promote his business and is very comfortable with the way facebook easily lets you create a new (wall) post and attach Image(s) and/or Links. Facebook takes care of where to position/size/upload the image and it becomes very simple for the user (if that’s all they want).

    So my question is: does any know of an Extension/Plugin/other that would allow me to build a standard WordPress site, but allow him to EASILY (read: like facebook) create posts with Images/Links attached?

    Maybe one could hire a staff and right some patents for such, then do a $5B IPO? Anyone wanting Facebook like functionality on a self hosted WP site needs to be sat down and told it’s not quite that simple…IMHO…

    Thanks for the sarcasm Swanson. I don’t want this to turn this into a flaming war, so I’ll just let that one slide.

    Unfortunately, it would appear that what I’m asking for is not currently available (for free at any rate: http://premium.wpmudev.org/project/quick-status).

    So, unless anyone has any more “constructive” suggestions, I may look into writing something myself.
