Support » Fixing WordPress » exta space after formatted text

  • Hi,

The text editor places an extra space after links and other formatted text (italics, bold, etc.). I try to remove it in the html editor, but it just comes back. So in my posts I have a spaces between linked words and periods, commas, etc.

    For example, see posts at

I suspect something is up with my style sheet or other theme document. I’ve tried firebug via the suggestion on this post, but to no avail.

I have two blogs running the same theme and plugins, so I’ll try to compare files. As I have this problem only on one.

    An guidance I greatly appreciate.

  • Apparently I can remove the spaces manually in Internet Explorer, but not in (gasp) Firefox! Sigh. I still don’t get how extra spaces got there. I used Winmerge to compare files with another blog that’s working fine, and found no difference.

I’m seeing the same thing. Could it be in the theme, stylesheet, what?

I get the same thing (I’ve noticed it with <strong> and with <a href>). I have two blogs that add the spaces and one that does not – interestingly the extra space is saved into the post body so I have a hard time believing that it’s a stylesheet issue.

I have seen it ever since version 2.6
