Express Checkout button “G-Pay” – no longer works since the update to 8.01

    I have the following problem after updating the plugin to version 8.01:

    The express checkout buttons ( Gpay and Apple Pay) on cart and checkout – after clicking – grey out and the page does nothing.

    The express checkout buttons not work for me either on desktop or mobile. I therefore installed version 7.92 again straight away. The button works in the mobile version. Of course, it is not displayed in the desktop.

    Updating to version 8.02 did not bring any improvement. The problem persists.
    I have downgraded to version 7.92 again. There the buttons work in the mobile view, in the desktop view the buttons are not displayed.

    I use KINSTA as my hoster.

    To confirm, the website is currently on 7.9.2, correct?

    I have downgraded to version 7.92 again. There the buttons work in the mobile view, in the desktop view the buttons are not displayed.

    I checked your website, and on the product page, I can see the button on both mobile and desktop view.

    On the checkout page, I can’t see it on neither desktop nor mobile.

    Regarding it not showing on desktop, please note that GPay button only shows on browsers that are logged in to an account with Google Wallet set up. Please check if your desktop browser meets this requirement.

    Regarding it not showing on checkout, can you please share a screenshot of what you see on WooCommerce > Settings > Payments > WooPayments > Click on Customize next to the Google Pay option

    it is correct the website is currently on 7.9.2.

    The fact that the express buttons are not displayed on the checkout page is due to my settings. i have deliberately not shown them there.

    Then the only problem is that the buttons do not work when updating to 8.01 or 8.02.

    I see that your site is currently on version 7.9.2 and the issue pops up when you upgrade to 8.01 or 8.02.
    To help us get to the bottom of this, could you please upgrade to 8.02 (latest version)?

    After that, let’s take a look at the error logs or any conflicts that might be causing the issue.
    If it’s not possible to do this on your live site, how about creating a staging site instead?
    Feel free to reach out if you need any help with setting up a staging site.

    Once you have the staging site set up and version 8.02 of the plugin installed, please check if the issue with the express checkout buttons persists. If it does, please look into the error logs and share any relevant information with us. You can find these logs in WooCommerce > Status > Logs.

    Also, head over to WooCommerce → Status → Tools, and do the following:

    • WooCommerce transients – Clear
    • Expired transients – Clear
    • Clear template cache – Clear
    • Capabilities – Reset Capabilities
    • Clear customer sessions -Clear
    • Product lookup tables – Regenerate
    • Regenerate the product attributes lookup table – Regenerate

    Next, please clear your browser cache and check again.

    I have updated to 8.02 and followed the suggested steps.

    Unfortunately, there was no improvement. The screen continues to grey out when using the express payment button on 8.02.

    I appreciate your update! Could you kindly provide us with the publicly accessible URL of your staging site so we can test it from our side? Additionally, have you run a conflict test on your staging site? Did the results turn out the same?

    Furthermore, after updating to the latest version, did you clear the WooCommerce transients, your site, and server cache?

    I have now created a staging page. Here is the link. The problem still occurs. I have updated to 8.02 in the staging environment and followed the suggested steps. Woopayment runs in safe mode in the staging environment.

    Hello werkzeuggarten,

    Thank you for your reply.

    I visited the staging site and clicked the Google Pay button on the Cart page.
    Then the screen faded and nothing worked.

    On the Cart page, I noticed a JS error that could be causing the problem.
    This error is about Shipping Rates and originates from the Stripe payment method.
    Here is a screenshot:

    To troubleshoot further, I suggest you deactivate all the plugins except WooCommerce and WooPayments. Then switch to a default theme like Twenty Twenty-four.
    If you still see the error, deactivate Stripe in the WooPayments.

    Hopefully, these steps will clarify what is happening and how we can fix the issue.

    I followed your instructions and was able to identify the plugin responsible for the conflict.

    It is WPML Multilingual CMS. However, this plugin is essential for my site. What should I do now? I have now deactivated WPML Multilingual CMS in the staging page.
