Exporting to a new host

  • Is there an easy way to do an export of a self-hosted wordpress blog when the export process doesn’t export the whole blog.

I’ve been trying to export my site to an .xml file to prepare for a transfer to a new host and the xml file only gets all the posts on my site up until august of 2007.

Can I do a database backup and then import that into the new database? I’d prefer not to do it that way to get a fresh database when I move my site but if I have to do a database backup to restore it I will.

  • Also if I have to go the database route, do i need to transfer the whole entire database or are their core database entries that I can bring over.
