# Exporting from WP

 * This could be a really dumb question, but since I can’t find the answer myself,
   I’m forced to ask it. Is there a way to export posts/comments/anything? I’m one
   of those people who likes to have local backups on hand just in case something
   happens.

 * Well, you could always just do a backup of your whole database (that’s what I
   do). 🙂

 * LaughingLizard has created a great little [backup hack](http://wordpress.org/support/10/1384)
   that you can integrate right into WP. I use it to backup my database and files
   all the time.

 * Okay, I tried that only to discover that “passthru,chown() has been disabled 
   for security reasons” … I’m assuming my host has done this. If you suspect I’m
   wrong, please correct me… otherwise, is there another way?
