    Dear developers,

I have exported my website with WP Migrate DB, than created a new db, imported the sql query, changed the db name in wp-config.php and refreshed my website, but it is still linking to my old domain.

What can be the cause of this and how can i fix it?

    Hi TG-DG,

Did you ensure the "Current address (URL)" and "New address (URL)" form fields on the Migrate DB form were filled in correctly?

i.e. the "Current address" field should be prefilled to your current site's current main URL and the "New address" field needs to match your new URL.

    e.g.

    Current address (URL) → //exampleold.com
    New address (URL) → //examplenew.com

If this looks fine could you try the following:

    • Hard refresh your browser's cache
    • If using a caching plugin, please clear it's cache
    • Save your permalink structure (Settings → Permalinks - Save Changes)

You might also want to double check your wp-config.php to ensure it's pointing to the correct database.

If all else fails, please log into phpMyAdmin, select your new database and click the wp_options table.

The first row should be the siteurl option, does this contain the old URL or the new one?

    Cheers,

    Chris

    Hello Chris,

I have done as you said and the site keeps referring to the old domain. When I check out the wp_options table it also contains the old URL.

    http://www.discusgroeneveld.nl is the new URL
    http://www.wordpresstest.discusgroeneveld.nl is the old URL

    Hello Chris,

I found out that the .sql script, exported by Migrate DB, inserted the old URL in the db. I manually changed that to the new URL and it seems to be working, yes!

    Hi TG-DG,

Glad to hear you've gotten it to work! Without any additional information it sounds like the "Current address (URL)" and "New address (URL)" form fields on the Migrate DB form might not have been filled in correctly.

i.e. the form should've looked like this:

    Current address (URL) → //www.wordpresstest.discusgroeneveld.nl
    New address (URL) → //www.discusgroeneveld.nl

You also want to ensure that you don't have a mix of www URLs vs non-www URLs.

Let me know if you have any additional problems.

    Cheers,

    Chris
