• I am in the process of updating to Version 3 WP site.
MOST of my original content can transfer EXCEPT 3rd party plugin-ins (working with GoDaddy)

Is there a way to copy, back-up, transfer, export my original calendar to the new website platform?

    They are using Beaver Builder.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hello,

Are you perhaps referring on the Events? The Events that shows on Calendar are pulled from your Events. If you’re referring to the Events, Currently EM doesn’t have an option to Export Events.

The best way to Export and transfer events is to move the Database it self. This is because EM does have it’s own unique tables on databases that bookings and other event data are stored.

Hello: I am referring to the entire history of events stored within this plug-in to the new site

    as Timrv said..

the Events are stored in the database… and the “calendar” events are pulled from there.

    I don’t use GoDaddy…
But “most” good hosting companies can “migrate” your whole website over without much difficulty… which also means the database.

If they can not do that I would sincerely look at another company.. particularly if they say you can’t use plugin’s like Events Manager.

Looks like you have two issues here…
    The hosting company… GoDaddy.
    And Beaver Builder.

I think the issue is with the plugin Beaver Builder.. as referring to not being able to use “third party” plugins.
I have no experience with Beaver Builder.. but it looks like one of the many “plugins” that facilitates constructing the look and feel of your website.

A quick search on google it says that Beaver Builder supports other plugins and themes.
I would suggest you figure out the extent of that situation.

Changing hosting companies is often a difficult decision..
and people will say good and bad things about their particular experience.

I have had (I am not sure If I may mention the name which follows)..
Hostgator for many years now.. and for about $12 have tons of “bells and whistles” and options to do just about every thing a person would need.
They can migrate your whole website over in pretty much one step.

    Good luck on your move.

Like @timrv said, EM does not have an import/export for events. This has been asked many, many times already on this forum. The process is incredibly difficult.

EM does not save all events data to one post type. Nor is all data is stored as post_meta. Data is pulled from several database tables. Row values are linked together with corresponding post ID’s, even_id’s and/or location_id’s.

    Example:
In wp_posts “event_id” is the Entry ID (not post ID) for that event in wp_em_events. In wp_em_events the “post_id” should correspond with the “ID” in wp_posts and wp_postmeta. Those values are usually very different.
That also goes for Locations, bookings, categories, etc.

Using any kind of importer will create new, incrementing post ID’s, disregarding any old post ID values. WordPress was build to always auto-increment. That way it will lose all connections to the old post ID and the references in all the other tables.

The only way to get the data correct and working to a different database, is by cloning the complete database.

I appreciate everyone’s input. The situation is that the theme I am currently using (Gen Charity 1/Genesis) is not longer compatible with Ninja Forms.

I use GoDaddy for the built & hosting. They suggested I needed to upgrade to Version 3 and will migrate MOST of the original site however, their policy is they do not deal with 3rd party plugins, which is my concern for the Events Manager. Naturally, I would like to keep the flow/data of all past and upcoming events loaded if it at all possible.

    Hello,

If you’re going to pay for Godaddy to migrate or upgrade your date to a newer version. It might be easier to just hire a developer and do the upgrades for you. Otherwise if it’s free for Godaddy, You might need to ask them about Events Manager.

If you’re also just changing a theme, This doesn’t mean that you need to migrate all the Data. You could just upload the new theme and Activate and set-up or fix the design of the new theme. The Events or other Pages shouldn’t be deleted.

I would always advice that if you’re doing any changes that you’re not familiar, Please always make a site backup.

as Tim mentioned… backing up… you should be doing that on a regular basis.
And definitely when making any major change.

I am a little confused by

    upgrade to Version 3

I am still unclear if you are migrating over to Godaddy from another host..
or just (trying) upgrading your theme.

If… Godaddy is telling you/suggesting that you upgrade your “Theme” to version 3,
which it sounds like from your statement “I am currently using (Gen Charity 1/Genesis) is not longer compatible with Ninja Forms.”
If the “theme” you are using is provided by Godaddy…
Yes they are supporting that “theme” for you as they are providing it…
and the statement “they do support third party plugins..”
is making more sense to me.

I doubt there are any hosting companies out there that support themes and plugins they don’t provide.

    I so agree with @timrv 😀

If your theme and contact form plugin are no longer compatible, you do not need a different hosting package. Also, I have never (yet) encountered that upgrading your hosting package with the same provider would require a new database.

A new theme could mean a refresh (face-lift) for your company, but can be quite a lot of work. You could also simply try one of the many other contact form plugins out there to test their compatibility with your current theme.
