• I’m about to export and then import the content of a blog and just wanted to review my steps to be sure I’m doing this properly (hoping to avoid a major catastrophe!!)

We have a new WP site in progress here:
    http://www.otionsoap.com/DRAFT/

There is a link called “Blog” that, for now, simply links to the existing blog (http://www.otionsoap.com/blog/).

My plan is to export the content of that blog, and then, in the NEW WP site, IMPORT that XML file so that it falls into the layout of the new theme. So, ultimately, when one clicks “blog” they will see the content on the old blog, but in this new theme layout.

Does this sound right? I feel like there is something missing. Maybe I need to create a new directory for the XML import?

    Thanks for any advice!

I went ahead and exported just the posts from the blog.

I then created a ‘posts’ page in the website.

When I attempted to IMPORT the XML file, this error message came up:

Sorry, there has been an error.
The uploaded file exceeds the upload_max_filesize directive in php.ini.

Can anyone suggest what to do? Thanks a bunch!
