I love this app! In fact I have created a quiz for student pilots who are learning to fly Hot Air Balloons. The quiz is so good I would love to use this same quiz on another site.

SO…. My question is this. I have created a quiz with more than 60 questions with answers. How can I get that quiz (questions and answers) to run on another site? Is there a way to export the questions and answer or download them and then upload them on another site? Or do I have to manually create each question and all the answers over again on the other site?

Thank you for any advice, tips or solutions to this.

    Hi thompsonaire,
HD Quiz is actually compatible with WordPress’ native import/export tool 😀

From your WordPress admin area, select Tools ⇾ Export from the admin menu. From here, just make sure you select “Questions” and WordPress will generate and XML export for you that you can use on another site.

Ok, Thank you for this information and the screen shot. I have done as you have suggested. Now what? I have downloaded the file but I have no idea what to do with it now.

I went on the other site and selected the Tools>Import… But I have no idea what to do from here…

God I hate this Blocks Thing… IMAGE,, image… Let me put an image here….

How do I get the file onto the new site?

    Thank you.

OK.. I now know at least one method that will not work. I went to the Plug in page and tried to upload it but it is an XML file and the uploader will only take zip files.

So I guess I will try something different. I still do not know how to get the file I saved from the Balloons-andBeyond.com site over to the Aviation-Ranch.com site.

Ok, I looked in the HD Quiz tools folder and there is nothing there that will help. I have also tried to create a new quiz but it does not have an import feature. So that will not work.

Still lost. No idea how to get the XML file I have downloaded up on the other site.

OK,, Found another method that does not work.

OK.. I now have the questions but none of the images came over. So now I need to go down the list and find all the questions that require images and upload them. At least that is better than having to re-write every one.

    Hi again,
the answer you are looking for is “WordPress” haha.

The WordPress import tool is asking you where you got your export file from. You got your export from another WordPress site, so that is the import tool you should run.

When running the tool, there will also be an option, something like “import attachments”. This should allow you to grab the images during the import as well (not 100% sure if you need to have the images pre-uploaded or not though. Been a while since I used this tool myself)

I am currently going question by question looking for the ones that need images. I am also missing 10 questions. I have 57 Questions on the Balloons-andbeyond.com site, but when I uploaded the file to the Aviation-ranch.com site it only had 47 questions. I did not see an option for images but there are only 8 questions (or so) with images so that is not a big deal. BUT…. The questions are not in the same order so finding the 10 questions I am missing will be somewhat of a challenge. But I am still further ahead than I would have been without the Export Tool thing you explained.

Thank you very much for helping.

    Jeff
