    Hi,
When the jobs are expired it still shows up in google search because of the meta title and meta description added to it. So when people click on the link in the google search it goes to the page which shows expired listing. Now if this happens regularly visitors would think that this job website has lot of expired listing. This can cause bad impression. So what I would do is go to the expired listing and then put them to noindex and nofollow. Now this does remove the links from the google search.

Now the problem is that when the job poster renews the job it comes in published listing but it does not come in top order. It is somewhere between the list. If the jobs would come in order from the top then it would be easy to check and put back index and follow.

WP Job Manager already adds noindex to expired and filled jobs, as shown in this function:

    https://github.com/Automattic/WP-Job-Manager/blob/master/includes/class-wp-job-manager-post-types.php#L749-L764

One thing to keep in mind, however, is that Google’s index of your site content doesn’t update instantly. It can take some time for Google’s index to “catch up” to the reality of your site. That’s just something to be aware of when you see anything “outdated” in search results.

I would also make sure you have this checked:

… in order to hide expired listings entirely, not just the content.

Is that not working for you?

OK. Its fine with the no index for expired and filled job listings. But when the user renews the expired job listing it does not come at the top in the admin. It is somewhere in between maybe in the order of last time posted date. So it is difficult to find that job and put index and follow back again. It would be great if the expired job when renewed comes at the top.

If an expired job is relisted, WP Job Manager removes the noindex automatically, so you don’t really have to worry about going back and re-adding it by hand.
