• Hi,
Recently my blog posts have been getting longer and longer due to the number of images per post.
Obviously this negatively affects the loading time of the site.

Does anyone know how I can make my posts Expandable? You know, with a little ‘read more’ option which will then link to the full blog post?

Ideally, I’d love to show the first paragraph from a post and then say 1 or 2 images, with a ‘read more’ option after that.

    Thanks folks!
    Dave

  • Actually, this is very easy.
Open the post that you want to edit.
If you are using the default WordPress Editor, one of the Editing Buttons looks like 2 small white square with a small dotted line in between the 2 squares.
Put your cursor where you want “Read more” to appear and click on this button.
This will break your post at the desired spot and visitors will have the option to click “Read more” to continue reading the whole post.
If you more questions about this, don’t hesitate.

Brilliant! Thank you so much! That’s perfect!

    You’re welcome!

    Diane,
Thanks, but if I understand correctly, the “read more” function on WordPress requires you to “read more” on a new page. I don’t like that. I’d like a true collapsable “read more” function that keeps you on the same page. That way you can quickly scroll down and read further if you want, but without having to click back onto a new page.

The Daily Dish has this function, and it’s very helpful.

Question: do you know if a collapsable “read more” function is available on WordPress? I would hope so, but can’t find or access it.

    Thanks

    John
