Expandable category as a menu item

  • harvester_cz

I”m looking for a way how to have a menu item, that would be a category of posts, but not a static link to an archive, but would be expandable, containing all posts grouped by year.

    Please advice.

  • Create a Custom Menu (Theme support required)

    Or, use the Links Widget

Or, hard code the HTML in a Text Widget.

One can even create their own Menu using a Page Template

I’m sorry, but I don’t get any of the solutions. I can work with custom menus, I don’t need a custom link nor hardcoded page.

I need a menu item, that would contain a list of all posts in WordPress, grouped by years, dynamically updated by new posts.

If these links are not clear to you, consider hiring someone. (Or spend more than ten minutes studying them?)

Sorry, but I’m quite aware of what is under these links, but none of them solves my issue.

The whole problem is that an archive of posts in custom menu is just a link, not an expandable menu item.

This plugin should do exactly what I need, but somehow it doesn’t work.

The custom menu only allows adding a link that leads to a category or tag page. I wanted to insert all posts from a certain category/tag themselves into the menu, so I wrote a little plug-in. If you want to list posts the posts themselves in the menu and if you want WordPress to do this automatically for you, then I hope you will find this plugin useful.
