Exerpt Clasing with Category Posts

The excerpt used in the slideshow is clashing with Category posts Plugin rendering the latter unusable. Foe example, if I change excerpt to 100 words then that changes the excerpt length in all Category Post widgets to 100.
Unusable with Category Posts. Please help. you have a marvelous plugin
