I was just wondering if there was a way to exclude or remove hits by a certain IP address from the database. I have excluded the IP address in the settings so I won’t continue to record the hits, but I would also like to remove the past hits data. For example, a certain IP address has spammed certain pages of my site in the past week, and I would like to remove or exclude all hits associated with this IP address, so that I have a more accurate reflection of my past week’s statistics. Thanks for you help.

    Short answer, no.

Longer answer, no but you can partially do it if you have access to phpMyAdmin or similar tool. The issue here is that if you’re tracking pages you won’t be able to remove those counts from the page hits, but you will be able to remove the related IP visitors from the database.

Okay, so are saying that I can delete them from the database, but the Hits column and charts in the admin section won’t update to show the new (lower) number of hits?

Correct, since we don’t track which pages an individual user visited there’s no way to backtrack the data and remove the totals for an individual visitor from the pages/visits.

Okay, gotcha. Would there be any way for me to manually change the numbers? If I would be able to estimate how many spam hits a post received on a date, and then lower the number of hits?

All the data is in the tables, so technically yes.

    Okay. Thanks for your help!

    No problem.
