# exclude_types won’t work

 * Hello,
 * I’m using version 6.2.1 of TeachPress. I am trying to use the exclude_types parameter
   to remove Unpublished, Miscellaneous and Patents from the publication list.
 * As far as I can tell this should work but isn’t:
    [tplist image=”left” image_size
   =”120″ author_name=”simple” style=”simple” link_style=”images” author=”5,296,166,70″
   exclude_types=”Unpublished,Miscellaneous,Patent”]

 * I have continued to try to get the exclude_types to work. It seems to work if
   I only want to exclude one type i.e. exclude_types=”patent” or exclude_type=”
   misc” but if I try to exclude more than one type i.e. exclude_types=”patent, 
   misc, unpublished” it will not exclude the types. I have opted to use the type
   = shortcode and I am able to get it to work for me. I would like to know what
   I am doing wrong on the exclude_types shortcode if you have a moment.

   However now I wonder how I could add the custom labels to the filter “type” in
   tpcloud?

 * It’s not possible to filter publications in such way. Maybe tags are a better
   option in your case?

 * Thanks, Michael. Yes, I will use the tags. However then I would like to hide 
   the filter “Type”. I tried to use the same code like you suggested for hiding
   the filter “user” (show_user_filter=”0″). But it does not work with “show_types_filter
   =”0”. Any suggestions here?

 * There was no option for hiding the type filter. So, after an update to 6.2.3,
   which is available now 😉 , it should work with:
    `[tpcloud show_type_filter="
   0"]`
 * **Please note:** Save your changed publication template files before the update.
