    Hi

My shop has all settings to include tax in prices.

But when I add shipping price already including tax it adds tax again.

I have Shipping tax class included, Compounded and all ticked in that setting.

I have set store to include taxes on prices, I mean add prices including tax.

But shipping wants prices added excluding tax? Why?

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

  • Hi @kingcooper,

Thanks for reaching out. I understand how this kind of issue can be both confusing and frustrating, especially when it impacts your customers’ experience.

Just to confirm, are you saying that you’ve set your prices to be inclusive of tax, but once you apply tax classes, the tax is being added on top of the prices you already entered? If that’s the case, I’d like to get a clearer picture of your setup.

Could you please go to WooCommerce > Settings > Tax and share a screenshot of your Tax Options, along with what you have configured under Standard Rates, Reduced Rates, and Zero Rates? This will help us replicate the issue and better understand what might be going wrong.

    Hi there!

Thanks for sharing those screenshots. I have checked the screenshot and I see everything is set correctly.

From what you’ve described, your store is set to display prices including tax, and you’ve already entered shipping prices with tax included. However, WooCommerce is still applying tax again on top of the shipping charge

By default, WooCommerce expects shipping prices to be entered excluding tax, even when product prices are entered including tax.

Adjust your shipping rates so the tax is not already included. WooCommerce will then correctly calculate and add tax during checkout. This is the simplest and most WooCommerce-compatible approach.

Alternatively, If you must enter shipping prices including tax, you can use a code snippet to reverse-calculate the taxable portion, but this involves customization and may not be suitable in all regions.

If you need more in-depth support or want to consider professional assistance for customization, I can recommend WooExperts and Codeable.io as options for getting professional help. Alternatively, you can also ask your development questions in the  WooCommerce Community Slack as custom code falls outside our usual scope of support.
