[resolved] Exclude Current Event from Listing (7 posts)

    Hi,
I have a small issue that I run into on pretty much every site that I use Event Manager and it would be nice to find a solution...

I have the event detail page with upcoming events in the sidebar. I list the upcoming events via the [event_list] shortcode and placeholders.

What I need to do is exclude the current event in the upcoming events sidebar as this becomes redundant content, but I can't seem to figure out if this is possible using the placeholders.

Is this possible using the shortcode? or do I need to use a more advanced technique?

    thanks!

What do you mean by 'current event'?

If you mean an event that happened earlier today, that's something we're hoping to sort out in the coming updates.

If you mean events that started yesterday or earelier and are still ongoing, see Settings > Pages > Events List/Archives > Are current events past events?

    Hey Marcus,
Current event meaning the current event detail page or event single page.

    For example site.com/events/day-at-the-beach/

    hi,

basically, what you want is to exclude the current viewed event from the sidebar, is that correct? so, if event A is currently being viewed it should be excluded from the sidebar of upcoming events. however, at the moment this might not be possible.

Yes exactly, I don't think it's possible now either.

I was thinking it would work something like 'post__Not_in' or something similar.

Might have to try a js workaround.

yes, maybe you can try to use js at the moment; e.g. you can add event id in your html element class name and then hide the duplicate in the sidebar using js.

i see... there isn't a way to do this at the moment using our shortcode, because we don't have an 'exclude post/event' filter. you'd need to createa a custom WP_Query to sort that out.
