Support » Plugin: Relevanssi - A Better Search » Exclude content, achieve better results

  • Hi Mikko,

We’re running the onlineshop http://www.sabbs.ch and like your Relevanssi Search Engine a lot. It’s definitely much better than the WordPress generic one. However we still face some problems. We think that results still include our description text for our products which often link to other products. Ideally it should only search for product titles, product cateogories, colour and the coolest thing would be if it would yield great results for search terms like “red trousers”.

How can we achieve these results?

    Many thanks for your feedback.

If the description text is in the post content then yes, Relevanssi does index it. It is possible to disable it, if you want to. Here’s how you do that.

In order to get great results for search terms like “red trousers”, make sure all your red trousers have both words appear in posts (“trousers” preferably in the title). Enabling “AND” search will improve the accuracy of the results, as does making sure that non-trousers posts don’t mention the word “trousers”.

Ok, thanks. Is the premium version required for it, or can we also put the code in the functions.php in the free version?

That code works just as well with the free version.
