Excessive Pushing To Go “Pro”

I can’t say whether this plugin actually works. After leaving it activated for a couple of days, I found it had blocked one IP address. I don’t know what to make of that.

The reason I uninstalled this plugin was because the author urged me to go “Pro,” buy the more complete version.

I fully understand that software developers want to get paid just as anyone else does. I’m willing to pay for certain programs, apps, and plugins. What I found unacceptable, though, was the insistence.

There are many features you can activate or leave inactive, which you can access via a dashboard. Many of these features are only available with the Pro version. This fact isn’t always apparent as you’re working through the options. I would have preferred to know right off which features require “Pro.” I often had to try to activate them before I could find out.

This may sound trivial, but it felt a bit sketchy. Kind of “bait and switch.” I don’t like being teased in this way, so I removed the plugin.

I believe this plugin could have great potential; but I don’t care for the way it tried to push the “Pro” level. I uninstalled it.
