    I’m trying to restrict pages to only show an excerpt unless a user is logged-in.

    I have looked at the FAQs and followed them to the word, and I’ve tried every other combination of settings, but either the whole page is restricted or the whole page is in view. I’ve used the <!–more–> tag in the middle of the content, and I am viewing logged-out.

    The advised combination that I’ve tried is:

    General Settings:
    Block pages by default – no
    Show excerpts – yes
    Auto Excerpt – no

    Page Settings:
    Block this page – yes (brings up custom field ‘block=true’
    Excerpt content <!–more–> restricted content
    No parent
    Template = content

    I’ve also tried many other combinations, but I’ve never seen an excerpt on its own.

    Any clues before I give up and uninstall this plug-in?

    Thanks

    I would suggest taking a look at what other plugins you are using and also your theme. There could be something there that is getting in between because it sounds like you have everything set correctly. I would recommend deactivating other plugins and testing to see if it might be a conflict with a specific plugin. If that’s not it, test with another theme. I think the answer is in one of those two things.

    Hey
    I had the same problem and found that
    Open Graph Meta plugin causes the excerpts to disappear.
