Excerpts in Custom Community

In the Theme Options –> General –> Excerpts
I have selected my category and archive posts to show only the first 20 words, however my archives and category views are still showing a summary (about 55 words).I am also trying for excerpts on my homepage so I went to the Reading Settings tab on in my dashboard to “full text/summary” and selected “Summary”
However, on my home, archive, and category pages it is still showing the first 50-60 words rather than the first 20 and it is causing my format to skew a bit.
These forums have been very helpful before and I appreciate your time and any help if anyone has had a similar problem! The site is http://chicagorants.com/ and I am familiar with HTML if anyone knows where I can dig for the code.
