• I recently upgraded to 3.2.1 and now the excerpt section is missing. I use that section for just about every post I make and I use html and now I can’t do that and the automatic excerpt created from the post strips the html.

I looked around and can’t find anyone else with this problem which I can’t understand because I can’t be the only one who uses the separate excerpt section.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for responding but sending me to a closed topic which doesn’t address my problem hasn’t really helped.

I’m not having trouble with the front end so I don’t need to change the theme.
    I don’t have any plug-ins to de-activate.
I have the required PHP and MySQL versions.

Everything is working fine except the excerpt section that used to appear below the main text section is no longer there.

Try clicking Screen Options and ticking “Optional Excerpt”.

Thank you again Esmi. Unfortunately Optional Excerpt is not available in Screen Options.

What is in the Show on screen section of Screen Options is:
    Right Now
    Recent Comments
    Incoming Links
    Plugins
    QuickPress
    Recent Drafts
    WordPress Development Log
    Other WordPress News

    That’s it.

That’s what’s in the Dashboard’s Home page “screen options”. Try looking in the post page.

Go to Posts–> Add new –> and then “Screen Options”.

    You should see these options:
    Categories
    Post
    Tags
    Excerpt
    Send
    Trackbacks
    Custom
    Fields
    Discussion
    Slug
    Author

    Make sure “Excerpt” is checked.

Thank you RosieMBanks. I found it and have checked the Excerpt option.

It all seems a little convoluted and shouldn’t be that hard to find but at least you let me know where to find it.
