Support » Fixing WordPress » Excerpt only on frontpage

  • Hi,

    I would like to write a small introduction on every article I write, so it displays nicely on the front page. The thing I don’t like is that it re-appears in the post itself. Is it possible to have all text above the ‘read more’ line dissappear in a post ?

    yes;
    in single.php use:

    <?php the_content('',true); ?>

    http://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/the_content

    It doesn’t seem to work, but I’m probably the one that does something wrong. I added that code to single.php, but nothing changed.

    The idea is that I write some teaser part that shouldn’t appear when you click on the post itself. I have no knowledge of any of these coding, so I’m just following instructions 😉

    what theme are you using?

    I’m using a custom theme called GamesMax with small modifications

    general,
    if you type some text1, then add the ‘more tag’, then type some more text2;
    then the index page should only show text1 (if the code is using the_content();)
    and the single post should only show text2 (if the code in single.php using the_content('',true);)

    if your theme does something different, you might need to contact the theme’s developer –

    unfortunately, themes by the source, where your theme comes from, are not supported by this forum.
