Excerpt Not Working

    As a test I entered an excerpt for a Mission & Vision page. On the excerpts tab of the plugin Create custom search result snippets is checked. After reindexing when I do a search for “Mission & Vision” the excerpt is not displayed.

    You are using Divi, and as far as I can tell, Divi doesn’t display the exceprts, but instead shows the first 270 characters from the beginning of the post. Those excerpts are not generated by Relevanssi; Relevanssi does a better job than that.

    I’m not sure if there’s a setting somewhere to change that, but one solution is to create a child theme, add a new search results template there and change the generally quite useless Divi excerpt with the default the_excerpt(), which would show either the more useful Relevanssi-generated excerpt or, if you uncheck the “Create custom snippets”, the excerpts you’ve created yourself.
