• I’m using ‘the_excerpt’ on the category pages. When clicking on the post title you will go (as expected) to the full post. But I want the ‘more’ part in the post to be still hidden untill clicked.

I’m using the part after ‘more’ to insert some images, a kind of mini-gallery for images of that particular event. This did work when listing the categorypages full, but now that I’ve chosen to use the_excerpt first the ‘more’-link doesn’t work or is not present anymore.

Any tips on how to get that ‘more’-link back?

Example: http://www.kwartiermakersfestival-mb.nl/2005 and then click on “Nacht van het gedicht”…

No ideas? This combination has to occur more often I think. Excerpt (click ‘posttitle’ or […]) => post (without ‘more’) => post (complete post with ‘more’ after clicking that link).

Poor moxie, you replied to yourself. Now you’ll never get an answer. 🙂

The problem is that, the way I understand it, the “more” tag does two things – it tells WordPress not to print anything after the tag and it provides a link to the full post. To do what you want, you’d need to create a separate template for the Post with less and then have your link go to that instead of the full post page.

Have you checked all the plugins to see if there’s something that does what you want?

Thanks for the reply to ‘poor moxie’ :).
Yes, I look at all the available plugins, but none that could solve this little problem.

The site that this was meant for is already so heavily hacked and tweaked, that I’m a bit scared to go one like this with also splitting content into seperate templates. I think I’m gonna talk to the people who use this site and ask them how annoying they think it is, and then leave it as it is. 🙂
