Support » Plugin: Yoast SEO » Good plugin except for one fairly bad bug

  • It’s a great plugin except for one problem. It strips the caption and alt-text from my images and replaces them with <yoastmark. This is happening on all of my blogs where Yoast is installed.

This was reported to Yoast as a bug 5 months ago, but Yoast dismissed it as particular to that one person’s blog and perhaps as a conflict with a particular theme. None of my blogs have the same theme installed, so it’s not particular to any single theme. And yes, Yoast is up to date, as are my other plugins.

When I did a Google search on yoastmark, all sorts of other blogs showed up, so it seems that it is a far more widespread problem than Yoast will admit to.

I have no choice but to uninstall Yoast and use another plugin. Which is unfortunate. Except for this bug, I rather like Yoast. But this bug is too problematic.

    Hi @lmashton,

    Thanks for your feedback.

We are sorry to hear you’re experiencing problems with Yoast SEO.

Can you please check if the problem is the same while all non-Yoast plugins are deactivated and your theme is on Twenty Seventeen? We ask as sometimes strange behavior may be caused by a plugin or theme conflict.

If the problem still occurs, we’d kindly ask you to submit a bug report in GitHub so that our developers can investigate it? Please, include as much information as possible in the bug report so that we can reproduce the issue. This KB article explains how to write a good bug report.

@lmashton Hello, recently I too got into this bug for my newer posts, So I manually added altand caption tags in Text mode, it is fine now. Try this, hope it works.
