• I was very excited to use SureCart as it appeared simple to use and quick to install various product options. But, and this really is a big BUT, your store order data is not held on your website but in SureCarts cloud service.

That for me is a big NO THANKS.

If there was an option to choose where to store your data, e.g. locally or in SureCart cloud then it would be a winner and worth 5 stars.

Even ChatGPT said not to use it LOL due to the data storage issue.

    Hi Greg,

Thanks for sharing your feedback. I completely understand why local data storage is important to you.

You’re correct that SureCart is built as a connected commerce platform. Store data such as products, orders, customers, and store configuration is stored on the SureCart Platform rather than only inside the local WordPress database. One of the benefits of this approach is that your WordPress site stays lighter, and if the website is hacked, corrupted, migrated, or rebuilt, your store data can still be accessed from app.surecart.com and reconnected to WordPress.

    More details here: https://surecart.com/docs/installing-surecart/ https://surecart.com/docs/add-surecart-api/

We also take security and privacy very seriously. SureCart uses industry-standard security practices, does not store customer card numbers, and is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, Swiss-U.S. DPF, and UK Extension. You can also request deletion or restriction of personal data, and you can permanently delete your SureCart store/account if needed.

That said, I understand that some merchants prefer a fully local database option. SureCart is not built that way at the moment, but your feedback is valid and I’ll pass it to the team as a request for more data storage flexibility.

Thanks again for trying SureCart and for sharing your thoughts.
