[Resolved] Exceeding Memory Limit While Testing out theme

  • So I’m trying to create my own theme. It’s the first time I’m doing this, and I’m fairly new to code, but I’m picking up on it pretty quick.

Anyway, I downloaded XAMPP to test the theme on the localhost; however, when I upload the theme to the test site and activate it, I get this:

“Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 134217728 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 261904 bytes) in C:\xampp\htdocs\wordpress\wp-includes\plugin.php on line 69”

I’ve tried increasing the memory limit and all, but nothing works.

Any help before it drives me insane?

  • Here is a list of things I tried with one that worked for me. It may not work for every site, but it is worth a try.

    http://wordpress.mcdspot.com/2012/03/20/ways-to-increase-max-file-upload-size-and-execution-time/

Create php.ini and php5.ini files on your local machine with the contents shown. Use ftp or a file manager from your hosting service to upload them to the wp-admin folder.

Unfortunately, nothing worked for me. That being said, I did rush through writing the code for the theme. I got a little antsy. So, it could also be a problem within the theme it’s self. I uploaded a theme I’ve used in the past and it worked perfectly. I’m going back through and rewriting everything at a slower pace and trying to get everything right. If anyone would like to help, PM me.

Just for the record, I’m using XAMPP for localhost.
