Support » Plugin: Ad Blocking Detector » exadwese.us serving malware?

Hi, I’m actually seeing malware being served up in an iFrame on my site, and since the only two iframes on my site are from a Facebook like button and this plugin, I’d suggest perhaps someone has been using exadwese.us for nefarious purposes?

Disabling the plugin until I can get confirmation that it is safe.

  • I’ve been working on a huge plugin update that will fix this problem. Recently, this plugin was targeted by some ad blockers, and it’s been causing havoc. One of the changes will stop this exadwese.us iframe call.

It wouldn’t surprise me if someone purchased the originally unused domain exadwese.us and started serving up malware. There are a handful of very militant anti-adblocker-detection advocates out there that wouldn’t blink at doing this.

The update is huge because it had to address numerous problems at once, but the majority of it is finished. I just need to polish up a few things, stress test it, and update documentation/instructions.

I expect to have it released in not too long.

Ok great, I’ll leave the plugin disabled until then. I can’t be completely sure that’s what has happened but I haven’t had any more malware reports since I disabled it.

I would say don’t worry about the tiny but very vocal minority, most people see this as the much more complex issue that it is, and appeals have been working reasonably well for me.

Okay, I have released the huge update I mentioned.

The iframe URL has been changed away from exadwese.us, and there is now an option in the “Advanced Settings” to change the URL in the future, in case something similar happens with the new URL.

The new plugin version is 3.0.0. It may take up to 24 hours for update notifications to display.
