When adding existing terms/values to an attribute on a product in the product editor, we are experiencing issues with getting exact matches in the dropdown list.

In the section “Attributes” in the Product editor we add terms/values from existing ones. Our most recent example concerns the attribute ‘Size’ where I’m searching for existing values like 0, 1, 2, 3, etc to add them to the list. When I type 1, I don’t get an exact match for 1 in the dropdown list. Instead, I get other search results instead of exactly 1, or 1 shows up in the list but not as the first option. What could be causing this? Can you have a look at this?

    We are using Woocommerce 8.7.0

Let me know if you need anything else.

  • Hey there, @gibonwebbuppsala! Thanks for contacting us. I’m happy to help you.

I just checked on my test website and I was not able to replicate this issue.

As I understand this started happening recently, correct?

Have you made any changes to the website recently? This could be adding or removing plugins or custom code, updating the theme or plugins, etc.

Furthermore, I’d like to understand your site properly. Please share with us the necessary information below for us to investigate the issue further:

System Status Report which you can find via WooCommerce > Status > Get system report > Copy for support.
Fatal error logs (if any) under WooCommerce > Status > Logs. Then you can use the selector to search for Fatal Errors.
You could copy and paste your reply here or paste it via https://gist.github.com/ and send the link here.

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Have a wonderful day!

    Hi!

Thank you for looking into it.
According to the client who’s website this is happening on, it’s been like this the whole time and the website have been live since august last year.

I’ve shared the system report and two fatal error logs via the gist.

    Hello gibonwebbuppsala

    Thank you for your reply.

I cannot find the System Status Report in your last message.
    Could you please resend it?

Also, it would be helpful if you could share screenshots of the product editor and show me the problem. The visual clues will let me understand the issue in a better way.

Looking forward to your response. 🙂

    Best regards.

    Hello!
I added the system report via the gist again.
Did you find the other logs I pasted in the gist before (fatal-error logs) or should I resend them as well?

We did not get the link with the Report and the error logs. Can you please share the links here so we can take a look?

    Thank you!

    Hey, @gibonwebbuppsala!

    Thanks for sharing the report!

While I didn’t find anything out of the ordinary on it, I noticed the website has a lot of plugins, and one of them might be causing this issue.

Can you please run a conflict test to check if the issue persists?

To test, you’ll first want to change the theme on your site to Storefront, then check to see if the issue is still present. If that resolves the issue, you’ll want to get in touch with your theme’s developer and see if they have an update or fix for you.

If changing the theme doesn’t help, you’ll want to deactivate all plugins except for WooCommerce and take a look. If that fixes the problem, re-enable the other plugins one by one (gradually), checking after each, to see where the issue is coming from.

    — Be sure you have a good backup in place of your full site and database. You can ask your host for backup functionality or you can consider using a service like Jetpack. If something goes wrong, you will be able to restore it.

    — Also, you can consider using a plugin like Health Check & Troubleshooting. This is a plugin developed by the WordPress community and it is helpful to disable plugins without affecting your current site visitors.

    — It is important to consider as well a staging functionality in case you would not like to touch your production site (you can ask your host if they offer this service), or you can use WP Staging for quickly spinning up a new test site.

You can find more about this in this guide.

Please let us know about your findings.

    Have a wonderful day!
