Is it normal that EWWW Image Optimizer Cloud takes about 30-40 seconds to process each image? How can I potentially speed it up?

I’m using the paid cloud subscription so I can use JPEGMini compression with EWWW Image Optimizer Cloud. My webhost is wpengine, so I’m using the cloud version of the plugin.

Sweet plugin if I could get it to process images more quickly 😉

    Maybe it’s a setting I can change?

At this rate it will take about 12 days for all my images to pass through EWWW 😉

I’m not sure there is much you can do. I believe WP Engine enforces a mandatory 5 second throttle on optimizations, and if you have a whole pile of resizes per image, it’s going to take 5 seconds minimum for each of those, and round trip time for cloud optimization is generally 2-4 seconds for JPG, and more for PNGs.

    Thanks, great plugin nonetheless.

I resolved it by downloading locally my WordPress uploads folder and running it all through the JPEGmini app from the Apple App Store. Now WebpageTest.org gives the site an “A” for Image compression.

I’ll use EWWW Image Cloud Optimizer for all NEW media uploaded to the site.

    Thanks!
